Our new webinar series is for farmers and consumers at all levels of raw milk production and consumption experience who want to learn more about the methods and opportunities for raw milk production, the consumer’s role in safe handling practices, and the new relationships that the raw milk movement is fostering within the local food movement.

FARM-TO-CONSUMER FOUNDATION RAW MILK EDUCATION WEBINAR SERIES!

The information offered in this webinar series can be used for any size herd, can cross over to all types of milking animals and are complimentary to any state raw milk program.  Some of the points that will be covered include:

  • Balancing forages and rations and the relation to herd health and milk safety
  • Warning signs of failing herd health
  • Animal behavior, animal scoring, basic herd principles and human interaction
  • Proper milking practices and milk handling
  • Milk culture, quality and pathogen testing and how to interpret them

 

Join Tim Wightman (a farmer, long-time dairy and soils consultant and president of the Farm-to-Consumer Foundation) and Sharon Wilson (who owned and operated the largest raw goat dairy in Colorado and has been consulting other raw milk goat operations nationwide for over 8 years) to learn vital information about raw milk production practices and safe handling guidelines.

Our new webinar format will allow producers and consumers of raw milk to listen to our raw milk experts, see related pictures and information on their computer, and ask our experts questions in real time about their concerns or on the topics of the discussion.

You will be able to choose to attend the webinars on goats, cows or our open forum (where you ask the questions and direct the conversation), or attend all three for a wide ranging conversation on proper raw milk production, collection and monitoring, as well as safe handling.

WEBINAR DATES FOR OCTOBER 2014: Attend all three in one month to get discounted rates. 

Focus on Cows: October 8th - A Holistic Review of the Raw Milk Dairy Farm and tools used to properly assess Quality and Safety.

Focus on Goats: October 15th  - Fall dry dairy goat management and end of lactation.

Open Forum*: October 22nd

All classes begin at 1:00pm Eastern and last for approximately 1.5 hours.

FEES: $40.00 per session, $75.00 for two sessions in the same month, and $110.00 for all three sessions held within an individual month. Separate sessions over different months must be purchased separately ($40.00 each).

No refunds or transfers to another month session unless a technical glitch on our end results in cancelation or disruption of the session.

 

 

WEBINAR HOSTS

Sharon Wilson owned and operated the largest raw goat dairy in Colorado (Natural Choice Dairy, LLC) and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors and Secretary of the Farm-to-Consumer Foundation and was one of the Founding board members and Treasurer of the Raw Milk Association of Colorado (RMAC). Her role in RMAC was to help to define and create testing regimes for goats and raw goat milk along with quality recognition and recommended collection processes. Sharon has been consulting other raw milk goat dairies nationwide for over 8 years.

 

Tim Wightman is a farmer and long-time dairy and soils consultant. He also serves as the President of the Farm-To-Consumer Foundation and was a founding Board member of the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund.  He pioneered CSAs, organic cooperatives, farmers’ markets, the cow-share program and the farm-share program, while living in northern Wisconsin. Tim has operated and designed raw milk dairy farms in several states and now lives and farms in New Hampshire. He consults worldwide with dairy farmers on raw milk safety and direct marketing and is the author of the "Raw Milk Production Handbook" and the presenter in the “From Grass to the Glass – Chore Time” DVD.
